NORTHSIDE RESIDENCE 1

HISTORIC RENOVATION AND ADDITION

NORTHSIDE HISTORIC DISTRICT, LEXINGTON ,KY

A year long, complete renovation of an excellent example of Romanesque/Richardsonian architecture on 2nd Street in downtown Lexington.  This very well-known house was completed in 1888 for Capt. Howard, Post Master of Lexington and Civil War hero.  Since 2000, the house sat empty, taking on water and overall decay.  Considered almost lost, Darren Taylor brought this magnificent example back to life, highlighting its exquisite contributing features such as a seemingly cantilevered 3 story turret and large curved “wedding” staircase.
