The project also included the construction of a separate garden suite which is just north-east of the old house. This project received the Judge's Design award from the Home Builders Association of Kentucky for Best New Construction Design under 2,000 sq. feet. The award winning garden suite sits approximately in the same location as the smokehouse that once stood on the property in 1858 and decades following. The new garden suite maintains the same footprint as the old smokehouse. .The goal in designing the garden suite was to give reference to the smokehouse that once existed through the use of similar geometries and materials. Some contemporary glass features were added to allow natural light to immerse the space giving a guest a full experience of Kentucky's stunning landscape while maintaining the integrity of the historical precedence.
