VINCENT THOMPSON, AIA

Vincent Thompson, AIA, NCARB is a licensed architect in Kentucky as well as several Mid-Atlantic and Southern states. He is a founding partner of Gibson Taylor Thompson, where he leads the firm’s production team, oversees daily operations, and ensures that design and documentation standards are upheld across all projects.

Vince holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Kentucky and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. During his academic career, he studied abroad extensively throughout Europe, with extended stays in Barcelona and other major cities - developing a strong foundation in both classical and contemporary design principles. He also served as treasurer of the Tau Sigma Delta honor society and was a teaching assistant in Digital Media at the University of Kentucky, where he instructed students in CAD and BIM software.

He began his professional career in construction, managing high-end residential projects and large-scale renovations in the Annapolis–Chesapeake Bay region of Maryland. His work spans both residential and commercial sectors, including notable roles as project manager and designer for the Kentucky Derby Museum in Louisville and multiple buildings at the Maker’s Mark Distillery in Loretto, KY.

Since partnering with Baron and Darren, Vince has helped guide a broad range of projects - from urban housing developments to commercial assembly venues. He continues to refine the firm’s production standards and remains dedicated to ensuring the highest level of quality in every phase of design and construction.

Vince previously served on the Board of Directors for the AIA East Kentucky Chapter and was recently appointed to the Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction’s task force by the where he contributes to the review and improvement of residential building codes to support the development of higher quality housing across the state.

Across all projects, Vince brings a collaborative, team-oriented approach and a deep appreciation for interdisciplinary coordination - believing that successful outcomes stem from strong partnerships and clear communication.
