HIDDEN GATE FARM
WOODFORD COUNTY, KY
Set amid the rolling hills of Woodford County, Kentucky, this custom residence was designed as a modern interpretation of Colonial Revival architecture, blending the symmetry and formality of early American homes with the warmth and texture of the Kentucky countryside.
The home’s balanced façade, columned porch, and dormered rooflines evoke traditional Shingle Style and Georgian influences, while its materials—painted shingles, copper roofing, and stone detailing—lend a timeless yet contemporary presence. The design honors the vernacular language of regional equestrian estates, with companion structures including a pool house, covered riding arena, and support barns that form a cohesive architectural ensemble.
Inside, light-filled spaces and layered natural materials—wood, stone, and metal—create a sense of elegance grounded in craftsmanship. Expansive windows and French doors open to deep porches, terraces, and gardens, encouraging a seamless connection between indoor living and the surrounding landscape.
In collaboration with landscape architects, the project integrates formal and native planting palettes, defining outdoor rooms that flow effortlessly from the architecture. Together, the residence, equestrian facilities, and landscape design celebrate the beauty, rhythm, and refinement of life in Kentucky horse country—a contemporary estate rooted in classic American tradition.
